In his experiment mendel showed the inheritance of traits.
He cross bred between a tall pea plant and a short pea plant.
In the F1 generation the offsprings were all tall, he then self bred the plants and in the F2 generation there were 3 tall plants and 1 shirt plant.
Tallness characteristic was not shown in the F1 generation but it can be seen in the F2 generation, this shows that Tallness is a dominant trait while shortness is a recessive trait.
In the absence of dominant trait, recessive trait can be expressed.
