The history of transport is largely one of technological innovation. Advances in technologyhave allowed people to travel farther, explore more territory, and expand their influence over larger and larger areas. Even in ancient times, new tools such as foot coverings, skis, and snowshoes lengthened the distances that could be travelled. As new inventions and discoveries were applied to transport problems, travel time decreased while the ability to move more and larger loads increased. Innovation continues as transport researchers are working to find new ways to reduce costs and increase transport efficiency.

Transport 20 years before

If there was a Time Machine anywhere in the world I would definitely want to board it and travel on a reverse journey two decades back.  I was just three years then. My grand parents were alive and so was my mother.

I was the apple of their eyes.  There was no school and studies.  The entire day was spent in fun and frolic.  

Grandpa took me to the park every morning so that father could slip out for work. If I caught him going I would throw a terrible tantrum.  On the way back from park Grandpa bought me a pink candy floss  which I would relish.

Back home Mother would give a lovely soapy bath in a beautiful plastic bath tub shaped like a dolphin.  Grandmother would then take me in her laps and feed me narrating lovely fables from the Panchatantra.

Evening I would again go to the park with my tricycle. Mother would dress me up like a princess and I would be the centre of attraction.  Evening daddy would return often with a gift for me. We would sometimes go out on social visits.

How I loved that time.  "Those were the best days of life, bad things in life were just so few," my favourite lines sung by 'Queen'. I wish I could go back to that time.
