Animals have a fluid which flows in the blood vessels known as blood. This carries oxygen from the heart to other parts of body, then carries digested parts of the food from the small intestine for the process of assimilation (building complex protein with the help of digested food) and also carries the waste products from large intestine to the kidneys which is removed as urine.

In plants water and nutrition is transported by the a vascular tissue called xylem. The food is transported by another vascular tissue called phloem.
