Because jungles and forests are so thick, all of the plants need to compete for the sunlight. That is why the trees, creepers, and vines grow so tall. They are reaching and competing for the light That is also why in forests you'll find that the bottoms of the trees look dead - no light. However jungles are much more lush and have more water sources. The trees there just grows very tall with leaves only growing on top. Weather the tree has a dead looking bottom or only grows leaves at top has to do with the type of trees

Answer:

In hot, steamy rainforests, the tightly packed trees grow rapidly and to great heights. This is because they are all competing for sunlight. The taller the tree, the more light its leaves will receive. Some trees can reach heights of up to 200 ft (60 m).It's probably because they are competing for sunlight. ... When there are other plants (other trees) in the way of that light, they will try to grow taller than the others plants so that they can have better access to that sunlightSheer curiosity led Eric Bastos Gorgens and his team to the tallest tree in the Amazon. At 88.5 meters, or over 290 feet, the tree species Dinizia excelsa, or angelim vermelho in Portuguese, beat out the previous record holders by almost 30 meters.Measured at the standard breast height (about 4 feet, 3 inches above ground), the massive Arbol del Tule is an astounding 38 feet in diameter. A few of California's redwood and sequoia trees come close, but none can match Arbol del Tule.
