Trends of atomic size from top to bottom across a group

Answer:-

On going down a group, from top to bottom, the atomic size of progresses with each element

this is because, on moving down a group, in every element, a new shell/orbit is added.

this can be easily explained with an example.

In Group-1 elements (alkaline metals), we have the following elements, with their atomic sizes:-

Lithium            2,1

sodium            2,8,1

potassium       2,8,8,1

as you can see, with each element in group-1, a new shell is added... Hence the trend of atomic size down a group can be seen to be progressively increasing.

also to be noted is that- in a group, the number of valence electrons (no. of electrons in the last shell) is the same. group 1 will have 1 valence electron, and so on.

Hope this answer cleared all your doubts. please mark it as the brainliest if you think so. thank you and have a great day ahead:)
