Answer:area=30

AD=60/13

Step-by-step explanation:

Let AC be base and AB height.

Therefore,1/2*5*12=area of ABC

30=area of ABC

Now,let BC be base and AD height.

Area of ABC=1/2*13*AD

30=1/2*13*AD

60/13=AD

According to the problem given :

i ) In right angled triangle BAC ,

<A = 90°

AB = 5 cm ,

AC = 12 cm

Area of the right angled triangle

= ( AB × AC )/2

= ( 5 cm × 12 cm )/2

= 5 cm × 6 cm

= 30 square cm ---( 1 )

ii ) In triangle ABC ,

BC perpendicular to AD ,

BC = 13 cm

area of triangle ABC = ( base × altitude )/2

30 sq cm = ( BC × AD )/3

30 = ( 13 × AD )/2

30 × 2 = 13 × AD

60 / 13 = AD

AD ≈ 4.615 square cm
