Triangle ABC is right angled at A. AD is perpendicular to BC. If AB =5cm, BC=13cm and AC = 12cm, Find the area of triangle ABC. Also find the length of AD​

Explanation:

Area of △ABC = \frac{bh}{2}

                        = \frac{5*12}{2}

                        = 30 cm^{2}

To find length of AD, consider BC as the base and AD as the height of △ABC.

Area of △ABC = 30 cm^{2}

30 cm^{2} = \frac{AD*BC}{2}

30*2    = AD*13

\frac{60}{13}         = AD

AD = 4.616 = 4.62 cm

∴ Area of triangle ABC = 30 cm^{2} and length of AD = 4.6 cm
