Given :  triangle ABC with side AB=10 cm BC = 12 cm and ac = 16 cm enlarged to the triangle A'B'C' such that the largest side of triangle AB'C' = 24 cm

To Find : the scale ( enlargement) factor and use it to find the length of other side of image triangle A'B'C'

Solution:

ΔABC

AB = 10 cm

BC = 12 cm

AC = 16 cm

Largest side AC  = 16 cm

ΔA'B'C'

Largest side  = 24 cm

=> A'C'  = 24 cm

Scale factor = 24/16  =  3/2

scale ( enlargement) factor   = 3/2 = 1.5

A'B' =  (3/2) AB = (3/2)10  = 15 cm

B'C' =  (3/2) Bc = (3/2)12  = 18 cm

A'B' = 15 cm

B'C' =   18 cm

A'C'  = 24 cm
