The Assamese tribes were generally non-vegetarian. Fish, meat and eggs constituted their non- vegetarian resource. The Hindus, even the Brahmins of Assam were generally non-vegetarian unlike the rest of India. This difference was due to the non-Aryan influence over the Assamese culture.
