food chain starts at trophic level 1 with primary producers such as plants, can move to herbivores at level 2, predators at level 3 and typically finish with carnivores or apex predators at level 4 or 5. The path along the chain can form either a one-way flow or a food "web".

Description of Trophic Level is -

It is the level or certain positions for the organisms that they occupy in food chain prevailing in our ecosystem.

Various trophic levels are present in our ecosystem. Some of them includes :

(a) Producer : This is 1st level in the trophic system. This level mainly consists green type of plants.

(b) Herbivore : This level is the 2nd one. Cows, zooolankton, occupies this level.

(c) Carnivore : This is the 3rd level or stage. This is occupied by birds, wolf, etc.

(d) Top Carnivore : 4th level which comprises man, tiger, etc.
