They are usually found in areas receiving more than 200cm of rainfall & temperature of 15-30°C.About 7% of the earth's land surface & harbour more than half of the world's plants & animals.They are mostly found near the equator,they are dense,multi-layered & harbour many types of plants & animals.Due to there isn't any period of drought thus makes the trees to be evergreen or frost.They are mostly tall hardwood trees with broad leaves that release excess water through transpiration.
In India,green forests are found on the western slopes of the Western Ghats in States such as Maharashtra,Kerala &Karnataka.Some of trees found in Indian tropical forests are rosewood,mahogany& ebony.
Mostly deciduous trees lose their leaves in fall.The natural decaying of fallen leaves enriches the soil & supports all kinds of plant & animal life.The deciduous forests is lively place,where oak,beech,ash,& maple trees are typical& wildflowers, berries,& many types of insects &animal life abound.But the fertile soil is applied good for people & in Europe most of the deciduous forest has been destroyed to make room for farms & homes.
