It's very much difficult to produce ions from inert gas atoms because the electrons present in the outermost shell of an inert gas have already completed their octate so they are already very much stable elements and further removal or gaining of electrons is not possible in such compounds and hence they don't contain any free electron which are responsible for development a charge on any species
