Pure substance:

A pure substance is one which is made up of only one kind of atoms or molecules.

Mixtures:

A mixture is one which contains two or more different kinds of particles (atom or molecules).


Some of the things around us are:

Milk, sodium chloride, tap water ,naphthalene balls ,air ,gold ornaments ,baking soda ,wood ,graphite, vinegar, alcohol ,brass, salt solution ,alum ,kerosene oil ,steam ,diamond, distilled water, Steel, ice cream.
We can separate these things as pure substances or mixture as shown below:

Pure substances:

Napthallene balls , sodium chloride distilled water , Diamond , steam , alum, alcohol ,graphite ,baking soda.

Mixtures:

Tap water, milk, air, gold ornaments, ice cream ,Steel ,kerosene oil, salt solution, brass ,vinegar ,wood.
