Given :- Try to alter the numbers in the following figure so that the sum of any two adjacent numbers is equal to the sum of the pair of numbers at the other ends of the diameter .

Solution :-

→ Number we have to use = from 1 to 10 .

So ,

  • Take smallest number 1 and largest number 10 and put them together on same side of 2 diameters .
  • As sum of 1 and 10 is 11 . so, put 5 and 6 on opposite sides of that diameter .
  • Now, for largest sum take 9 besides 1 (9 + 1 = 10) and then opposite of diameter take 6 and 4 as 6 + 4 = 10 .
  • Now, numbers left are 2,3,7 and 8 . take 2 and 8 together and 7 and 3 on opposite sides as 2 + 8 = 10 and 7 + 3 = 10 .

Three possible solution will be :- (Refer to image.)

  • Circle (1) :- 1, 10, 3, 6, 7, 2, 9, 4, 5, 8 .
  • Circle (2) :- 1, 10, 4, 8, 2, 6, 5, 9, 3, 7 .
  • Circle (3) :- 1, 10, 2, 8, 4, 6, 5, 7, 3, 9 .
