Answer:

(i) BD = 8cm.

(ii) AC = 25cm.

Step-by-step explanation:

(i)

Given,

AB = 15cm,

AD = 17cm,

Using Pythagoras Theorum, we get,

 {h}^{2}  =  \:  {p}^{2}   +  \: {b}^{2}

→17^2 = 15^2 + b^2

→289 = 225 + b^2

{Transposing 225 to LHS...}

→289 - 225 = b^2

→64 = b^2

{Transposing sq. to LHS...}

→√64 = b

→8 = b

→b = 8

Hence, BD = 8cm.

(ii)

Given,

AB = 15cm,

BD = 8cm, (from (i))

CD = 12cm,

CB = 8 + 12 → 20 cm,

Using Pythagoras Theorum, we get,

 {h}^{2}  =  \:  {p}^{2}   +  \:  {b}^{2}

h^2 = 20^2 + 15^2

h^2 = 400 + 225

h^2 = 625

{Transposing sq. to RHS...}

h = √625

h = 25

Hence, AC = 25cm.
