this is because they are much destructive than normal waves. These are caused due to underwater earthquake and volcanic eruptions. These waves are very high. The highest height recorded in history is 36.5m.The most affected country by tsunami is Japan.

but tsunami waves will reach upto 44 to 87 metres

not this only it can reach till 114 metres
