the white cloth has the yellow turmeric stain.when we wash it with soap it turns red or brown. this is because turmeric juice turns reddish to deep brown in a basic medium and remains yellow in an acidic or neutral medium. soap is basic,so it turns turmeric red or brown. but when we wash the soap solution away with water , the turmeric stain regains its yellow colour
