Step-by-step explanation:

Let the first no. be x

the second no. be y

ACCORDING TO QUESTION..

2x + 3y = 23. -------(1)

4x + 5y = 41. --------(2)

By elimination method,

2x + 3y = 23. ×2

4x + 5y = 41 ×1

NOW,

4x + 6y =46

4x + 5y =41

(-) (-) (-)

___________

y = 5

NOW, put y = 5 in (1)

2x + 3(5) = 23

2x = 23-15

x = 8

2

x = 4

Hence, x = 4

y = 5
