twice the son's age in years, is added to the father's age, the sum is 70. But, if twice the father's age is added to the son's age, the sum is 95. Find their ages.

let the son's age be x and father's age be y.according to the question,
2x+y=70
2y+x=95
x=70-y/2
put in 2nd equation
2y+(70-y/2)=95
2y+70-y/2=95
(4y+70-y)/2=95
70+4y-y=95*2
70+3y=190
3y=190-70
3y=120
y=120/3
y=40
father's age=40
2x+40=70
2x=70-40
2x=30
x=30/2
x= 15
son's age=15
