With Respect to the EIC :
In the Charter Act of 1813, it was made clear that the trade monopoly of the British EIC was abolished with India. And that India will be made an open ground of competition for all British citizens, institutions, organisations etc
In the Charter Act of 1813, British parliament abolished the tea monopoly of EIC from all over the world and the Governor General was given a new member for Law in his Council. All legislative powers were centralised with him and his title became Governor General of India.
With Respect to India and Indians :
By the provisions of the Charter Act, 1853 the British government in India allowed Indians to enter the civil administration exam held in London with the MacCaulay Commission. First Indian ICS officer was Mr Satyendra Nath Tagore.
With the coming of Indian Councils Act 1861, British government allowed Indians to participate in the Advisory Council for the Governor General of India. They were three and nominated by the Governor General himself.

1. Position of secretary of state:
The act of 1858 abolished the company's Board of Control and the court of directors.All their powers were transferred to a cabinet minister ,known as the secretary of state. He was to be advised by a Council consisting of 15 members.
2. Position of Governor General:
The designation of the governor general was changed he was designated as the viceroy while representing the British government in England it was his duty to run the Indian Administration on behalf of the Crown he was under the control of the secretary of state for India
