The net force on the pulley mass system

F= m1 g-m2g

= 4g-2g = 2g

= 2×10 = 20 N

Acceleration of the centre of mass

a = F/ m1+m2

= 20/4+2

=10/3 m/s²

Distance traveled in 9 seconds

s = 1/2at²

= 1/2×10/3×9²

= 135m

Thus speed of centre of mass after 9 sec,

v = at = 10/3×9

= 30m/s
