Two boats traveling at a speed of 10 km/h and 15 km/h are 20 km apart started heading towards each other. what is the distance one minut before they collide

Method 1:

One minute before collision:

Distance traveled by boat₁ =  15*\frac{1}{60}   =\frac{1}{4}

Distance traveled by boat₂= 10*\frac{1}{60}   =\frac{1}{6}

Distance between them before collision will be

 \frac{1}{4} + \frac{1}{6} =\frac{5}{12}

(Since they are heading towards each other i.e moving in opposite direction)
