Answer:

± 5 kgm/s

Explanation:

momentum = mass x velocity

m₁ = 2kg

m₂ = 3kg

v₁ = -5m/s (or) 5m/s

v₂ = 5m/s (or) -5m/s

Momentum before collision = Momentum after collision

m₁u₁ + m₂u₂ = m₁v₁ + m₂v₂

⇒ (2)(u₁) + (3)(u₂) = (2)(-5) + (3)(5)   (or)  (2)(u₁) + (3)(u₂) = (2)(5) + (3)(-5)

⇒ 2u₁ + 3u₂ = -10 + 15                    (or)   2u₁ + 3u₂ = 10 - 15

⇒ 2u₁ + 3u₂ = 5                              (or)   2u₁ + 3u₂ = -5

∴ Momentum before collision = 5 kgm/s (or) -5 kgm/s

Hope this helped!
