Two bodies of masses 5 kg and 6 x 10²⁴ kg are placed with their centers 6.4 x 10⁶ m apart. Calculate the force of attraction between the two masses. Also find the initial acceleration of the two masses. [Assume that no other forces act on them]

Explanation:

We know,      F = G m1m2/r^2

                         = 6.67*10^-11 * 5 * 6*10^24/(6.4*10^6)^2

                         = 200.1*10^13/40.96*10^12

                     F = 48.85 N

We know,      F = ma

                      a1 = F/m1                     also,           a2 = F/m2

                           = 48.85/5                                        = 48.85/6*10^24

                           =9.77 m/s²                                       = 8.14*10^-24 m/s²
