Two bodies which are equal in mass, move with uniform velocity of 6 ms-¹ and 18 ms-¹ , respectively. find the ratio of their kinetic energy.

we know that kinetic energy is given

E=(1/2)mv sq.

now

for body 1

E1 = (1/2)mv sq.

for body 2

E2 = (1/2)m 3vv sq.

=9/2mv sq.

so the ratio will be

E1/E2 = 1/2mv sq.  / 9/2mv sq.

thus

E1 / E2 = 1/9

ratio= 1:9 ans
