two books are kept at extreme ends of a table top why don't they move towards each other due to gravitational pull

This is because value of G is 6.64*10¯¹¹ which is almost negligible... That is why we are not able to see the books moving towards each other... Hope it helps if it does plz follow me so that i can take up more of ur doubts.....

the force between these two books is so small that it is balanced by friction . For a body to move towards some other body , one of the body's mass has to be very large . Like , you and the earth...
