Two cars are moving with velocities of 72 km/hr and 45 km/hr towards east and west direction respectively. Find their relative velocity.

Answer:

Vr = 72 + 45 = 117km/hr

relative velocity will be equal to the sum of velocity of both the cars because they are moving in opposite direction

Explanation:

velocity of car A= 72km/hr = 72×(5/18)m/s=20m/s

velocity of car B= 45km/hr = 45×(5/18)m/s=12.5m/s

relative velocity of car A w.r.t car B = 20+12.5=32.5m/s

( since they are moving in opp direction, to get their relative velocity they must be added together)
