Two cars cover the same distance at the speed of 60 and 64 kmps respectively. Find the distance traveled by them if the slower car takes 1 hour more than the faster car

car B : 64 = x. ----------- 2

from both equations :

x = 60y + 60

x = 64y

then,

60y + 60 = 64y

64y - 60y = 60

4y = 60

y = 60/4 = 15

substitute y in equation 1

60 = x/y + 1

60 = x/ 15+1

60 = x/ 16

x = 60*16

x = 960

therefore distance covered by both cars is 960 km
