Two cells of emf 3v and 4v and internal resistance 1ohm and 2ohm respectivly are connected in parallel so as to send current in same direction through a external resistance of 5 ohm find current b/w each branch.
1.draw circuit diagram
2. using kirchhoffs laws calculate the current through each branch
3.pd across the 5ohm resistor

Answer:

Explanation:

=> By using kirchhoff's laws, we obtain

in loop CDEBC,

2I₂ + 5(I₁+I₂) = 4

thus,

5I₁ + 7I₂ = 4 ...(1)

In loop CDFAC,

1I₁ + 5 (I₁+I₂) = 3

6I₁ + 5I₂ = 3 ...(2)

By solving for I₁ and I₂, we get

I₁ = 0.0594 amps

I₂ = 0.529 amps

so, potential difference across the 5 ohm resistor will be

Vcd = (I₁+I₂) * 5

= (0.0594 +0.529)*5

=0.5884*5

=2.942 volts
