Hi ,

Let R and r are radii of two circles.

R = 5.5 cm , r = 4.2 cm

If two circles touch externally then,

the distance between two centres

D = R + r

D = 5.5 cm + 4.2 cm

D = 9.7 cm

I hope this helps you.

Heya !!

Radius of first circle ( R1 ) = 5.5 cm

And,

Radius of second circle ( R2 ) = 4.2 cm

Therefore,

Distance between their centres = R1+R2

=> 5.5 + 4.2

=> 9.7 cm
