Given:

The sum of two positive consecutive numbers is 30

To find:

The two consecutive number whose sum os 30

Now,

Let one number be n

The consecutive number to n is (n+1)

  • According to the question

Their sum is 30

So the equation formed is,

⇒ n + (n+1) = 30

⇒ n + n + 1 = 30

⇒ 2n + 1 = 30

⇒ 2n = 30 - 1

[By transporting 1 to RHS]

⇒ 2n = 29

⇒ n = 29 ÷ 2

[By transporting 2 to RHS]

⇒ n = 14.5

Now,

The value of (n+1) = 14.5 + 1 = 15.5

Hence

The two consecutive numbers are 14.5 and 15.5

- - - - -

Verification:

The sum of the consecutive numbers is 30 or not

→ 14.5 + 15.5 = 30

Verified.

\huge\boxed{\texttt{\fcolorbox{aqua}{grey}{answer}}}

\sf\large\green{\underline {let \: the \: two \: consecutive \: integers }} \\ \sf\large\green{\underline {be \: (x) \: and \: (x + 1) }} \\  \\ \sf\large\red{ given \: that \: their \: sum \: is \: 30.} \\  \\ \sf\large\green{\underline {so.........  }} \\  \\ \sf\large\ {x + (x + 1) = 30 } \\  \\ \sf\large\ {2x + 1 = 30 } \\  \\ \sf\large\ { 2x = 29} \\  \\ \sf\large\pink {x =  \frac{29}{2}  } \\  \\

So, the numbers are ,

x and (x+1)

\sf\large\blue {x + 1 =  \frac{29}{2}  + 1 } \\  \\ \sf\large\blue {  =  \frac{31}{2} }

So, the numbers are........

\sf\large\red { \frac{29}{2}..........and......... \frac{31}{2}   }
