Given:-

  • Width of roads = 10m
  • Length of rectangular park = 700m
  • Breadth of rectangular park = 300m

To find:-

  • Area of roads
  • Area of park excluding cross roads

Solution:-

Length of the park = 700m

Breadth of the park = 300m

Area = l×b

= 700×300

= 210000m²

Let us assume that ABCD and EFGH as two cross roads.

Area of ABCD cross road = l × b

= 700×10

= 7000m²

Area of EFGH cross road = l × b

= 300×10

= 3000m²

Area of IJKL at central = l × b

= 10×10

= 100m²

Area of roads = Area of ABCD + EFGH + IJKL

= 7000 + 3000 - 100

= 10000 - 100

= 9900m²

We know that 1 hectare = 10000m²

Area of roads in hectare = 9900/10000

= 0.99 hectare

Finally, Area of the park excluding roads = Area of park - Area of roads

= 210000 - 9900

= 200100m²

= 200100/10000

= 20.01 hectare

  • Area of park = 9900m²
  • Area of park excluding roads = 20.01 hectare.
