Water expands on freezing (its volume increases). Thus when ice is pressed its volume decreases and it melts. When pressure is reduced the water freezes again and thus the two ice cubes join together due to refreezing of meltsd ice layer between them.

1. When crushed ice is pressed, its melting point is lowered and some ice melts to form water.

2. When pressure is released, the melting point becomes normal and the water freezes to form ice forming a lump. Hence, the ice cubes get joined together.

Hope it helps!
