Two different bond lengths are observed in a PF5 molecule, but only one bond length is observed in SF6. ... For SF6, the geometry is octahedral. This is a highly symmetrical structure and thus the bond lengths will be the same for all the molecules.

Answer:

PF5 is trigonal bi-pyramidal. Just google that shape and you will clearly be able to see that it is not symmetrical with respect to all the 5 bonds. An interesting point is that, the Florine molecules keep shifting between the two asymmetrical positions.

For SF6, the geometry is octahedral. This is a highly symmetrical structure and thus the bond lengths will be the same for all the molecules.
