Two electric balls having certain mass carry a negative charge spread uniformly

over their surfaces. Make necessary assumptions on the charges (Q1 and Q2)

and mass of the balls. Each of these balls can be modelled as a sphere 7.5 µm in

diameter. Using the assumptions find the following.

(a) What speed would they need when very far away from each other to get

close enough to just touch? Elaborate on the reasons for the answer.

(b) Make a sketch of the charge configuration in the xy plane and show the

electric field lines in relation to the charges.
(c) Find the vector valued electrostatic force on Q1 due to Q2. Make suitable

assumptions for the positions (coordinates) of 2 electric balls.

(d) Calculate the vector valued electric field at the origin i.e halfway between

the charges.
