When u take a galvanic cell or Daniel cell or voltaic cell (ZnSO4 ,CuSO4) which is an example of ELECTROCHEMICAL CELL we know that oxidation takes place at anode by loss of electrons and reduction takes place at cathode by gain of electrons. In galvanic cell the electrons flow from anode (zinc rod) to the cathode (copper rod). At anode which is the negative electrode which generates the flow of electrons . At cathode which is the positive electrode accepts the electrons. The current flows from cathode to anode. Hence CATHODE is the POSITIVE ELECTRODE in an electrochemical cell.
