Two elements X and Y belong to groups 1 And 2 are respectively and are in the same period of the periodic table. How do the following properties of X and Y vary? a Their valencies in forming oxides b Molecular formula of their chlorides

(a) = the valency formed by X will be 2 whereas the valency formed by Y will be 1 when they'll form oxides.

(b) = molecular formula of chloride of X will be XCl whereas molecular formula of chloride of Y will be YCl2
