QUESTION :-

Two equal side of an isosceles triangle are each 9m less than twice the third side. If the perimeter of the triangle is 72 find the length of its side.

ANSWER :-

Given :

Perimeter = 72 m.

Solution :

Let it's third side be 'x'.

According to the given condition,

Each of its equal side = 2x - 9 m.

Then,

x + 2x - 9 + 2x - 9 = 72 m.

5x - 18 = 72 m

5x = 90 m.

x = 90/5 m.

x = 18 m.

Then length of its equal sides = 2x - 9

2x - 9 = 2 x 18 - 9.

27 m.

It's third side = 18 m.

Checking :

It is already given that perimeter is 72 m.

According to the given condition,

2x - 9 + 2x - 9 + x = 72 m

27 m + 27 m + 18 m = 72 m.

Hope it helps!!
