when two forces act in similar direction there magnitude is simply added ie 27n
and the resultant will be in the same direction.
when they act in opposite direction two forces are subtracted.
the direction of resultant will be in the direction of larger force.
Or simply assume a direction for resultant force and subtract the two forces if the answer is negative. The resultant is in opposite direction.
hope it helps ☺️
