Let two force vector be  F1  and  F2  whose magnitude is given

F1=5N,   F2=3N  and angel between them is  θ=900.  

Let  Fr  is the resultant of two force whose magnitude is obtained by

Fr=F21+F22+2F1F2cosθ−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−√  

⇒Fr=52+33+2×5×3×cos(900)−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−√  

⇒Fr=25+9+0−−−−−−−−√(∵cos(900=0))  

∴Fr=34−−√=5.8N  

The resultant force  Fr→  acts at an angle  θ1=tan−1(53)≈600  to  F2  or  θ2≈300  to  F1.  This is as shown below
