Anil has in his wallet - (d) 1200

When Anil and Bijoy are assuming, they have money in the ratio 8:9.

Let common ratio be x.

So, Anil has Rs 8x money

Bijoy has Rs 9x money.

But, actually, Anil had mistaken a five hundred rupee note to a hundred rupee note. It means the note was a five hundred rupee one, but he had mistaken it as hundred rupee.

So, he had counted Rs 400 less, it means he should have Rs 400 more than what he should have i.e. he has Rs 8x + 400

Whereas Bijoy still has Rs 9x.

Ratio = (8x + 400)/9x

Given, this ratio equals to 4:3.

So, (8x + 400)/9x = 4/3

⇒24x + 1200 = 36x

⇒ 12x = 1200

⇒ x = 1200/12 = 100

So, Anil has Rs (8x + 400) = Rs (800 + 400) = Rs 1200.

Option (D) is correct.
