Two friends are running on a track PQ. A and B start from P and after reaching at a point R. A turns back and meets
B at point S. After meeting at point 5, A and B continue towards Pand Q respectively A and B meet for the second time at point R Distance RQ 72 m and ratio of speed of A and B is 7:5. What is the length of the track ?

Answer:

P_____60m___R__Xm____40m____Q

Total distance = 100 + X

Initially, A traveled 60m and B traveled (40 + X)m. Since time is same. So, Speed ∝ Distance.

SaSb=6040+X

Second time,

So, now total distance traveled by A = 100 + X + 40

Total distance traveled by B = 100 + X + 60 + X

These will be in the ratio of Speed of A and B

Thus,

SaSb=6040+X=100+X+40100+X+60+X

X = 40

Thus Total distance = 100 + X = 100 + 40 = 140 m
