The disc that slides

Explanation:

Let

V_{A} be the disc that rolls &

V_{B} be the disc that slides

Kinetic energy is equal for both     (given)

so,

\frac{1}{2} Iω^2 + \frac{1}{2} MV_{A}^2 = \frac{1}{2} MV_{B}^2

From here,

Moment of energy of the disc,

\frac{1}{2} \frac{MR^2 }{2} * \frac{V_{A} ^2}{R^2} + \frac{1}{2} MV_{A}^2 = \frac{1}{2} MV_{B}^2

3V_{A}^{2} = 2V_{B}^{2}

\frac{V_{A}}{V_{B}} = \sqrt{\frac{2}{3} }

Thus, V_{B} or the disc that slides moves faster with the velocity of \sqrt{3}.
