Answer:

Since the iron object penderates more in the sand (then the wooden object), it does more work. As potential energy of an object has more potential energy then the wooden object.

  • The iron object will have more potential energy

Given that:

  • Two identical objects, made of iron and wood, are allowed to fall from the same height on a heap of sand.

To Find:

  • Which of the two objects has more potential energy?

We know that:

  • Potential Energy = Mgh

\:

Obeservation:

  • For the above formula it is clear that P.E is directly proportional to the mass of the object

Inference:

  • Since we know that the iron and the wooden object are identical in shape and size

As it's is know that iron is more denser compared to the of wood

Since,

  • Density = Mass /Volume

Thereby:

  • The iron object will be having more amount of mass since density is directly proportional to mass

Henceforth:

  • The iron object will be having more potential energy and as a result it penetrates more in the sand as compared to the wooden object
