q= -Q/4 will be the ans. as
Acc to question
force of first on second
F= KQ²/r²
and force by second charge on first will be equal but in opposite direction. and as we positive charge will repel each other. so we need to put a negative charge at centre to make system in Equilibrium. so,
KQ²/r²= - Kq²/(r/2)²
=KQ²/r² = - 4Kq²/4
on solving the equation we will get
q = Q/4
and sign will be negative
