Two identical resistors of 12 ohm are connected to a battery of 3 volt calculate the ratio of power consumed by the resulting combination with minimum resistance and maximum resistance

1)in series
12 + 12 = 24Ω
now find the current
I=V/R
 =3/24
 =1/8
=0.125A
now power
P1=V(I)
   =3×0.125
  = 0.375W
2)in parallel
1/R=1/R+1/R
  =1/12 +1/12
R  =6Ω
now current
I=V/R
 =3/6
 =1/2
=0.5A
power
P2=V×I
  =3×0.5
=1.5W

Ratio
P1/P2=0.375/1.5
          =0.25
= 25/100
= 1/4
= 1:4
so we can say that the ratio is 1:4
