• The low density liquid (in the figure, oil) comes on the surface and the high density liquid (in the figure, water) sinks at the bottom of funnel.

• Then, the $\sf stop c o c k$ is turned open and the high density liquid emerges out of the funnel through the $\sf stop c ock$. When the higher Density liquid comes out completely, close the $\sf stop c o c k$ so that the lower density liquid remains in the funnel.
