Two lizard populations live on an island. One of the populations has over 100,000 individuals on the island. The other population has only about 1,000 individuals on the island. A storm passing over the island caused the deaths of about 75% of each of the lizard populations. The resulting populations then suffered from the bottleneck effect.

The population which had less number of creature would be affected adversely.

Explanation:

  • Bottleneck effect is one of the phenomena which occurs when the number of of a particular organism of a particular species decreases adversely in a particular generation.
  • Bottleneck effect is  worse when the number of creature of that particular species in a particular Habitat is already low. Hence for the second population the bottleneck effect would adversely affect their future generation.
