Answer :

2 days

Step-by-step explanation :

Let the names of both the men be x and y .

According to the question ,

x can do a work in 3 days.

One day's work of x = ( 1 / 3 )

y can do a work in 6 days.

One day's work of y = ( 1 / 6 )

If they work together, then the one day's work of x and y = ( 1 / 3 + 1 / 6. )

                            = ( 2 + 1 / 6 )

                            = 3 / 6

                           = 1 / 2

x and y , together they can complete work in 2 days.

Hence, the time required for completing the work is 2 days.

→ Given :- 1 man alone can finish the work in ‘3’ days .

And, other man alone can finish it in ‘6’ days .

Then, 1 man's 1 day's work =  \frac{1}{3}

And, other man's 1 day's work =  \frac{1}{6}

▶ Now, A/Q

→ If both man work together , Then , the 1 day's work
 =  \frac{1}{3} +  \frac{1}{6} . \\  \\  =  \frac{2 + 1}{6} . \\  \\  =  \frac{3}{6}. \\  \\   =  \frac{1}{2} .

✔✔ Hence, no. of days taken by both work together is 2 days ✅✅ .
