Let the two numbers be x and 2x

 given, sum  of their squares is 320

So x^{2} + (2x)^2 = 320

    x^2+4x^2=5x^2=320

         x^2= 64 \\x = +8  or -8

Considering x =8

then sum of no.s = x+ 2x = 3x = 3(8) = 24

considering x = -8

sum of no.s  = (-8) + 2(-8) = -24

Answer:

24

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the numbers be x and 2x

Sum of squares is 320 :  x^{2}  + 4x^{2}  =320

                                       [5x]^{2} = 320

                                         x^{2} =\frac{320}{5}

                                         x^{2} = 64

                                         x =8

So the numbers are 8 and 16.

There sum equals 24.
